Another silly video of me rock slamming during the Winter 4x4 jamboree at Sand Hollow, Utah.
This one is on the trail called Milt's Mile. 7 out of 10 rated trail.
Video footage by jpet. Thanks Jeff! |

Yes, Jeff took this video with his iPhone. I think it’s an iPhone 10.

Awesome!
Bet it was intimidating for those modern Jeeps to follow a true flatfender through the rocks. Thanks for keeping a original jeep on the trails for others to enjoy. |

I thoroughly enjoyed your Milts Mile video. I can't imagine trying that with my all-stock 48CJ2A because I don't have the courage. However, I would like some technical details about the CJ: What engine, steering, brakes, transmission/transfer case. What can you tell me?

Hey Rodney, Wasn't that long ago that I couldn't imagine myself doing any of this stuff. I've kind of evolved into it with the coaching and encouragement from fellow flatfender friends, especially jpet, bridog, Rick G, snave, Bob W, Joe Friday and many others. Mostly you just have to jump in the water and start swimming. You can start at the shallow end and only do what you feel comfortable with. If you're like me, it will kind of get under your skin and you might want to start pushing yourself and your machine a bit more and more. Anyway, one place to find out more about the evolution of Grampa's Jeep is in my build thread here: That's a bit of a long read, but if you need something to help with your insomnia it's there. I have done a walk around YouTube video about the things I have modified and what I have not. That's a little quicker and less work than the build thread, but also less detail. Any specific questions, I'm happy to answer. |

Thanks for the quick response. After I posted my comments and questions I went through your rebuild thread which answered most of my questions. I am amazed that the stock Ross steering box and the stock brakes are adequate for the rough treatment you have subjected them to.
