I bought a set of these Guards from a Guy that is baned for some reason from this site and they are WONDERFUL!! He was  very helpful in helping me with questions as to how some of the brackets were mounted. I don't know what kind of problem some other folks have had but my dealings have been nothing more than excellent and will keep dealing with him on other reproduction items that he makes!!
I have pics of the final installation of the guards and can email to you if you need them (don't know how to post)
At any rate thanks Allen

Hey Mike,

do you have a source for the rubber insulators that the rear one pivots on?  I have looked for these for a while, and they are the same part number as the MB exhaust hangers, if I am not mistaken.  I have a piece of tire sidewall to cut some from, but wondering if there are NOS or good repros out there.  My originals are pretty worn.

Hello
Here are some photos of Part Number 641760 Prop. Shaft Guard Kit. There are some mounting hardware missing from the box. The date on the box is 4-49 and is made by cleveland corrugated box co. In the first photo I have included the guard that goes over the front cross member which is actually a separate part and not part of the Prop. Shaft Guard Kit.

That is a beautiful find Frank, thanks for posting those photos!

The part number stencil on the front axle shield is an interesting detail, and it must be a later number for that piece, since the '45 parts book shows that piece as 641547.  I have come across a few NOS parts with a painted part number stencil on them.

I am not positive of the date on this one, but the box has a 4-49 date on it . So its probably for the 49 model year and I don't have that manual to check. I purchased it years ago out of an old willys dealership who had a few old parts left. I have been searching high and low for the remainder of the mounting hardware ,but have not found anything yet. Maybe They were already gone when I purchased the box of parts.Cry
Oh well.

Well Frank, you have the hard parts to find, and the hardware that you are missing is relatively easy to make.  And, some of the same bolts and hardware are used elsewhere on the jeep, and the insulator plates are still available as NOS.

If you need dimensions or even samples to work from, I may be able to help you out with the pieces from my set.  I removed my set while redoing my '47, and I have yet to get to cleaning them up.  I should also have some pictures of them before they were removed, in all of their rusty and greasy glory.

Thanks for the offer ! Smile I have been busy lately and out of town and have to leave again tomorrow. Some photos of your brackets and dimensions would be helpful. I still have a coupe of places to check in my parts boxes, but still no luck locating them.
Thanks,  Frank

Hello Frank, I will dig these parts out soon, I am at that stage where I need to clean them up and reinstall them anyway.

Hi Mike,
I just sent to you an e-mail regarding some photos and dimensions of the middle shield.
I'll wait for your good news.
Cheers,

Hi,
as I have some problems with oil and grass between the transfer and the transfer shield, I decided to made my own GRASS SHIELD for my CJ-2A.
I know it´s not perfect, but unfortunately I can´t obtain the original dimensions.
I guess it will work as one original.
Cheers,
Charlie

Hi,
I post it again.
Maybe it´s not perfect as the original, but without real dimensions it was difficult to copy.
Cheers
Charlie

Grass Guards!  With a couple of yards sticks for reference in case someone need that kind of info.  Some of the bolts have "TR" on there heads.  I think this is a later set for the CJ2As with non full floating rear ends.

Hi Stev.
Any chance to have the correct dimensions of the grass shield ?

Looking what I did, and compare it with the original, I guess I would need to modify something Confused

Thanks in advance.

Charlie,

Yes, I can take a shot at making a drawing.  Which part do you want the drawing for?  All lf the sheet metal.  One easy thing I could do is put the parts on a layout board that has a 1" grid pattern and that would give you a pretty quick size representation.  Doing a full can drawing will take longer.

Let me know.
