BamBam came thru on his way out West this past weekend, so we did a little jeeping here at the Canadian River. We had great weather, albeit a little breezy (~30 mph) as you can tell from the video noise.

Rick,
Looks like it was a lot of fun, and I enjoyed watching the video. I know what is under the hood on Bam Bam, wondering what engine "Gus" has. Sounds good, and seemed to have what it takes. |

If you can't get there in a Jeep you don't need to be there!

I had the crank reground, replaced the rods, changed the valve seals, disassembled, cleaned, reassembled. So far so good! Thanks for posting the video Rick! I had a gr8 time wheeling and a Gr8 time at church!! |

Thanks, for watching. Gus has the stock L134 Go Devil engine. Sounds different because the muffler has a hole in it and/or is burned out, I guess. Oh, yeah, it also has a K&N air filter instead of the stock oil bath. That's about a 45 hp bolt-on modification . It has the T90C tranny with Saturn OD and the D18 transfer case with RockEater gears. I wheeled pretty conservatively that day because I broke my front main leaf spring right off the bat on the first obstacle. We put it back together with a muffler clamp for the rest of the day.

I asked because I have a project Jeep which is a "MB Clone" and had planned on building a L134 for it, but keep getting tempted to build a 4.3 V6. I thought yours was a 4 cylinder but wasn't sure it was the L134.
I have always gotten what I want out of a Jeep with the stock 4 cylinder engines, and already have several good cores for building another. When it comes down to it I don't think anything else would be as satisfying to me in the long term. I don't plan on any hard core trail riding or rock crawling anyway and don't care about going any faster on the road. Your Jeep, and Stan's Jeep show that the stock engine has plenty of guts.
