can someone explain to me how to read the Head Date? I looked into the date base and did not see an explanation as to how to understand the significance of the numbers.

This is the head on the metro I am presently using.

Thank you!
Jerry

There is no date in your photo The 6-48 is the compression ratio of the head, The G40181 is the casting number and the W 1 is the foundry that cast the head.

7/18 is a casting date code, but I'm not sure how to read it. Seventh month, eighteenth day? What year? Somewhere between 1945 and 1951? Confused

Bruce must have a better monitor then I do. I read that as 6-48 OH or maybe just his eyes are better. This getting old is starting to suck.
