Background story of my 48 cj2a. My dad has a 47 he calls “little Willy” it was his hunting rig my entire child hood and I loved it. My grandpa bought it for him and he restored it and got it running but I was just a little kid when during all of that. I loved riding around in it with him. Long story short my grandpa also had a 48 but he barely drove it. It was also well known that I wanted that jeep when he passed away. Well he’s still alive at 84 years old but bought himself a brand new 4 door jeep a few years ago and so he called me and told me to come get my jeep! I was so excited I went and picked it up. It had been sitting for a long time and barely ran. I’m a total newbie mechanic but after doing a few things and learning from others on here I was able to get it up and running well enough to use. Took it up elk hunting for the first time this year and love it! It’s a maroon ish color and tons of fun. I’ll post a few pics and I welcome some suggestions for a name. I had the idea of the basic “old red” or maybe even “gramps” but I’d love to hear some other ideas.

It is NOT a Jeep Willys! It is a Willys jeep.

Old number "84".    Find someone who can hand paint the number on the jeep somewhere

Sometimes ya just have to live with them a spell... and more often than not they'll name themselves in time if it isn't immediately obvious-

Both my jeeps started out as "POS", it took some time for them to earn more affectionate monikers.

My #1 1946 CJ2A is named Jethro after my dog and #2 1946 CJ2A is an extremely Bubbafied rusted out POS parts Jeep that is Tetanus because if you are not careful around it that is what you will catch!

Hey now, POS is reserved for JK's, or maybe everything else fiat somehow touched.  You can't use that name with anything Willys manufactured, no matter how beat, bubaed, and rusted out.

I’m with you on that.
No such thing as a Willys POS.

X3 on that.  The Jeep will let you know its name in its own time.  Smile
There's a reason it's called Ol' Unreliable

I would name it after my grandfather. Since he gave it to you. (Pop-Pop, Gramps, His Name, etc)
Its nice he passed it to you. My grandfather passed away when my Dad was 5.

We get real creative here in the nofender household. We've had some thought out gems such as:

Big Jeep
Little Jeep
Yellow Jeep
Green Jeep
Stinky Jeep (personal favorite because a cat peed in it)
The Wagon

yeah - we suck. I've never named a vehicle, Jeep or otherwise. You'd think after 28 years with "big Jeep" i would have come up with something! LOL

Hey guys, Give Muley a break. He probably meant Purveyor of Surplus, or Power of Surplus, or Pure Old Surplus, or Plain Old Surplus,  since his were mostly M38's.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
