Hello gentlemen,
Im trying to finish my engine build before the color tour. I’m having a little issue with the rear main seal. The crank feels a little tight when the seal is installed. How tight is too tight? I’m using the rubber seal that came with the engine gasket kit from Kaiser Willys.

The link above is informative. It suggests you measure the Rear Main Seal surface on the crankshaft, and possibly order a seal from Joes Motor Pool.

Do you have any pictures of the gasket that Kaiser Willys provides? Or the brand of the kit?

I ordered a Joe's motor pool rear main seal & it appears to fit correctly. -- But-- I have yet to start the engine.

5/23 - Joe's motor pool seal was a success!  not too tight, not too loose. Perfect fit.
