Is this horn original to a 48 2A. It was bolted to the driver side inner fender. I'm not going to be using it, and tried looking on ebay to figure out a value for it but couldnt find any like it. Any help on the value... |

dude put it on ebay for what you want for it. ex..20 bucks. if you get more it's worth more if not then 20 bucks for gas. we all need money for our projects right. there is nothing wrong w/ making money and not all of the jeep guys use this page. good luck Edited by Mike Gardner - 26 Jan. 2006 at 11:30pm |

No, that's not an original horn.
That horn is a Delco manufacture, common to most GM trucks in the '40s. They sell for $20-40 on ebay. A '48 CJ2A would have had a Sparton or Autolite horn. Sean Edited by sean - 26 Jan. 2006 at 10:58pm |

it still looks better than what came in my jeep. if you post it i follow the rule that i post what it is worth to me. the bidders will bump it up. ebay has become a sellers market. back in 1999 or 2000 it was a place to find stuff cheap. now there are too many people and stuff gets top dollar. 20 bucks could get you a few tall guinnes at the local watering hole.

My opinion.....if you want $20 for it, sell it to the guy here that answered your post and DON'T put it on eBay......that's why you won't find near as much on there anymore that's a bargain.....if will all tried to help out fellow hobbyists instead of 'cashing in' on everything, the hobby would be a little more bearable.....bottomline, $20 or so, seems to be a fair and reasonable price and you have someone in you own town willing to give that for it so that means no shipping charges......seems like a no-brainer to me.

Yeah I'm gonna let Bryson look at it first and decide if he wants it or not. Then if he decides against it, it'll get ebayed...

Jason,
Go to my home page and click on the New 48CJ2A link. Look through the pictures for the engine bay and you will see a good shot of the Autolite Horn.

Your horn is Sparton, not Autolite. Spartons have the 3 radial reinforcing ridges: Autolites have a smoother rounded shape: The front trumpets are quite similar: ___ Jason: Your '48 would have had one of these horns, not a long trumpet. Sean Edited by sean - 22 Feb. 2009 at 3:18pm |
