To post a picture, click the image link in the tool bar (this one ). Then type in your link in the Image URL field and click preview. Russ

Russ, I was trying to learn how to post a picture....Who did you use to post yours.....I tried Webshots and couldn't get it to work...I've heard some don't let you link to them, is Webshots one of those or am I doing something wrong? When I filled in the required info, my post turned out like Mike's here, the dreaded 'Red X'

Hi Roc

I used my own webspace for that picture, but check out this post.

It has instructions on how to use www.imageshack.us for picture hosting.

http://www.thecj2apage.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=5&PN=1

It is from a fellow jeeper.

If it requires a web space, then for practical purposes you can't post photos because most people don't maintain a web space.

Russ, I tried this picture off the web and it still wouldn' t work. Tutor me a little bit here....all I have to do is type in the address that I get when I right click on a picture, right? What am I doing wrong. I could understand the try at Webshots but this one is one the web.

http://www.midwestwillysreunion.org/images/fall_reunion/2003 /03_small.jpg

By the way, I built this a couple of years ago for my 'carshow cooler carrier'....was gonna be a swap meet wagon, but it turned out too nice to throw anything in it..........roc

Ah ha, I think I see. I just clicked on my link and got a FORBIDDEN access........I guess it's protected. Oh well, that's a heck of a note since it's a picture of something I own!!

If you type in the address space it will take you there though.

I'm gonna try the imageshack site this weekend sometime when I have a little time. Have you tried posting a picture the way WE would have to do it to see if it will function?

Thanks for the help!!

P.S Those two 'guest' posts (clapping smiley face and the ?) on the Good BY topic in the General Discussion section are mine and can be deleted if you want to. For some reason when I hit Post, I would lose my Login........dunno!

Dear Russ the Webmaster:
Would it be possible to add a program that would allow us to include a picture in this space ( attached to this message) that exists as a JPEG file on my computer hard drive. That is where my pictures from my digital camera end up. This would be very helpfull in the for sale, trade area. I also would like to add my jeep to Owners Pictures.
Respectfully,
Tom Varner

Russ:

I think some people are having problems posting pictures because THIS forum is being served from an IP address which does not have a domain name.

Many outside servers will refuse access requests from IP addresses which do not resolve to a registered domain.

Rocnrolls Midwest Willys Reunion photos are symtomatic of this.

If you type in the URL he provides, it will serve up the picture, because the reverse DNS lookup is resolving to YOUR ISPs domain name.

But if you click the link, it refuses to serve the picture, because the reverse DNS lookup is unable to find a domain name for this forums IP address.

When I try to look up this forums IP address (www.thecj2apage.com), I get this response:

"nslookup://194.101.70.66.in-addr.arpa;querytype=A

** server can't find 194.101.70.66.in-addr.arpa: NXDOMAIN"

This forum should be moved to a real domain.

Sean

Russ-  Just where is the toolbar you refer to.  It's not on any of my stuff--presumably it's within your computer system, but not mine.  Am I correct in thinking that this picture posting system is NOT on this website? Or am I missing something.
