I'd guess early CJ5. The M38A1 didn't have the Jeep stamp on the cowl.
Need a photo of the other side to see if it has the slave cable indent.

Didn't notice the cowl...what about the battery box? Did early 5's have that?

Yup. The battery box cover on the cowl was welded closed for early CJ5's.

Does this help? Thanks. May not be able to do more soon- leaving tomorrow to get the Economy tractor mentioned in my previous "Other vehicles" thread! |

Early CJ-5 for sure.
M38A1s did not have the JEEP stamp, a tailgate, and the glove box was on the driver side. Gauge Cluster is a removable panel in the center of the dash, Gas tank filler is huge and there is a gas tank sump in the floor on the driver side to name a few identifiable items.

Just shows I don't know much about that 'late model' stuff
(actually wasn't paying attention...saw the battery box and DIDN'T see the JEEP logo. Would have been a giveaway) |

I'm usually wrong but does it have the correct fuel tank for a M38A1. I really do believe it is a CJ5.
