I’m in the process of recreating a set of white oak side panels using the detailed instruction on this site to use with my original set of bows I obtained. As I go thru this planing and sanding the wood, measuring, making a jig and drilling holes, recreating the top metal C bracket, etc., I got to thinking about if anyone else was interested in a set. It has been a pretty time consuming process but I believe I could cut down the amount of time if I made at least 4 sets at one time. Based on time and materials, I would sell a set cut to size, holes drilled, bolts with washers and square nuts and make the metal C brackets, unfinished for one price plus shipping. All you would have to do is your own sealing coats (I’m using marine oil based spar urethan) and bolt it together. The urethaning is a very long process to brush all sides, sand and repeat for 3 coats. So that extra set of steps would add an additional amount. So before I seriously consider this, are their others that would be interested in a set. Note this does not include bows. At this point I have no intentions of doing steam bending. I might in the future to get a set that matches the new side panels, but that’s a whole different beast.
Who is interested and what do you think a fair price would be?

I'd be interested in 6 of the metal C brackets that go on the top of the side posts. I've already got the wood and rest of the hardware.

I'd welcome this with how my schedule has been lately. Having a finished trailer is even off in the distance for now (but I could easily store this with my bows for the finish!) and this would be one less thing to make/source out.
Price = cost + time. For a while, wood prices fluctuated a lot (don't know how bad it is now). Maybe that allows for price fluctuations. IF you could figure out a ball park, I have no doubt you'd get the feedback on potential interest that you want.

Today I did the second coat of brush on clear. It entailed an hour and half to sand, wipe and coat. For 3 coats that works out to 4-5 hours labor alone. Doing that step for myself is one thing but since I don’t have the ability to spray them, it’s time consuming. I wold have to charge $250-300 for clear coating alone. The nuts and bolts were about $25 and I’ve got to buy metal, cut and fab the upper brackets (going to buy a small metal brake next week for this part). Wood alone was $260 plus time to go pick it up. Doing 5 sets I could plane and cut it to size and drill the holes in a couple hours. So the plain sets with hardware I’d have to sell for $600 to make it worth my time if I had at least 5 orders. I read recently the steam bending guy won’t consider another run unless he has 10+ prepaid orders, and now I understand why.
So, if I can get 5 commits: $600 for a set raw wood pre drilled with hardware plus shipping. $300 to clear coat them in oil based Spar Urethan

Like I said, I'd be interested in the metal C brackets that go at the top of each post. Thanks.

If I get 5 interested people then I’ll gear up, otherwise I’ll just do mine.

I'm still interested in a set of bow brackets if you come up with a price.

I’ve got to first figure out the time involved. The metal is not significant, the time is unknown so I will know that when I do my set. Then some sort of coating to protect. May try starting with galvanized metal. Will see and post back.
