Idler Gear , Shaft and Bearings
Group 18-05
Up to S/N 24196
3/4" Diameter Intermediate Shaft
The earlier CJ2A, up to serial number 24196 used most of the same parts in the D18 Transfer Case as was used by the Later Vintage MB Military. Including the 3/4" shaft. Gears were changed for the civilian application to fit the T90 transmission gear ratios.
The 3/4"intermediate shaft and bearings were the same as the MB, gear, however, was changed by tooth count. You can see the shaft and lockplate in the Transfer Case by looking at the outside of the case just behind the E brake backing plate. Later shafts were larger in diameter.
3/4" Shaft Part # A-998

This shaft and Bearings are probably originals and are in bad condition.
