Hello, All.  I'm finishing up the restoration of 218880... was able to do a short test drive last weekend and make a few adjustments... took him out for another drive (7 miles) today with no issues other than my timing might be a little off (running warm & sputters a little when returning to idle).  Overall, we're happy to be back on the road.

H. W. Welch (Mountville, PA) did the metal work and paint.  And Jeepster Jim (East Palatka, FL) did the machine work on the engine. Thanks to him, for saving the original engine number.  I did the rest of the work in my garage here in Albany, GA.  Most of the original parts were able to be restored.  Those that I couldn't save, I did my best to replace with NOS parts.  There are some reproduction parts here and there, but not too much.  I rebuilt the rest of the original drivetrain (axles, transmission, transfer case, drivelines), did the teardown and reassembly, and learned a lot along the way.

We decided on the name, Delbert, after the previous owner, Delbert (Deb) G. Green Sr.  The registration wrapped around the steering column had registrations dating back from 1975 to 1969.  He was born in 1932, so it's unlikely he was the original owner.  I forgot to take a picture of the title before I changed it to my name.  The Jeep had been sitting in his barn for quite a while.  The '69 registration was from Rocky Ford, CO, then the later registrations had his current address, where we picked it up, in New Plymouth, ID.  Deb passed away in October of last year so I didn't get a chance to send him pictures of the finished project... but here he is.

Wow! A great restoration. Thanks for the pictures and backstory. That looks like it came right out of the factory at Toledo.

It’s actually Emerald Green. We were able to match some original paint that was covered by undercoat. The paint is an acrylic modified alkyd enamel. I don’t have the code, but if you reach out to H. W. Welch Company, they may be able to get you set up. The original paint codes are still around as well.

That's a beautiful resto; great work! Hope my M38 resto, in progress, turns out that nice. Been at it 8 months, and hope to wrap it up by summer. Then on to an M38a1 preservation. Your work is inspiring me!

Very nice job! I love that you honored Delbert by naming your CJ2A after him. I did the same with my Luzon Red 48. The original owner was Elmer Suits from Duanesburg, NY, so my 48 is ELMER.
I really like your attention to detail. Especially the bright orange FRAM Oil filter that sets off the engine bay, as well as the very nice original late 48 battery hold down!
I do hope you intend to keep this one.

I grew up about 20 miles from Salem... in Amity (south of McMinnville).  Worked for a farmer that had an old CJ2A we used for spraying.  Seems like a different world now.
