So for years and years I have searched for a Willys CJ-2A or 3A plastic model. To no avail. Its like the plastic model companies never even considered anything past the MB/GPW. Oh I have seen some horrible Die Cast CJ-3Bs and even a Hand made M-38 on ebay for $175.00 But a simple Revell MPC AMT etc. 1/24th or 1/25th scale plastic model Heck no. The other one that just blows me away is there are no models or even die casts of a 67 Mustang Coupe to be had. I even talked to Hemmings at the big Portland Swap meet about how cool it would be if they did one like they do every year. That went no where. JUST seams funny to me.

Thats funny Stev I searched eBay before making my post last night, But I was using Willys in the search so that didn't come up. But I'm really looking for one to put with my other 1/24th 1/25th scale models of the cars and trucks I have owned. |

There is a reissue of the Hogans Heroes Jeep from AMT. The box says "World War 2" Jeep, but they have a 2A grille that comes with them, so you can make a decent 2A. While I cannot guarantee that it will have the 2A grill, I have opened three of these and they all have the extra grill.

I had one of those almost 50 years ago. I Bubba'd it, I will reluctantly admit...

I was gonna suggest "kit-bashing" it. There are materials/tools available today that weren't around long ago. |

No, it was a Bubba job. I first made it into an MB, as I recall, but some time later I gave it an SOA lift and made a roll bar out of leftover trees, and painted it a metallic blue. But at least I never did that with a real MB...

Mark-
Might want to check out OldModelKits.com. They are a “mom and pop” on-line shop in KY that has a variety of long discontinued kits. A quick search of Jeep just now produced a couple of the mentioned Hogan’s Heroes kits and a “trailblazer” from MPC that looks like a mildly modified 2A, still factory sealed. I built one of the Hogan’s kits a few years ago, but can’t remember if it came with a 2A grill or not. Hope this helps, Greg

I wasn't aware model kits had gone up so much, no wonder kids don't fool with them anymore.
Once was a time you could cut your grandparents yard and go to 'Elmore's Five &Dime', buy a model car and assemble it that night......oh wait, yeah, I'm back awake now. |
