I have a chance at grabbing a T18 from a Jeep. I guess they are hard to come by. I’m guessing it would be harder than hell to put it behind a flathead cj2a. I’m thinking about a synchronized 1st gear again. A granny gear would be a bonus. Sure wish I had a T98.

If it's a wide ratio from a late 70's CJ and the price is right grab it. Bonus points if it's still adapted to the Dana 20 transfer case. They are hard to come by. I searched long and hard for mine. Adaptable to a flathead? Anything is possible but probably more valuable in trade or resale to someone with a v6 or 8.

The 2nd position in a T-18, is really 1st gear. It appears that SisKiwit understands that, because he mentions that granny is a bonus.

Too much work to make fit in a flathead. I let it pass. The price wasn’t right anyways.

I have t18’s in both my Jeeps. Love them! Cant imagine off roading without that low gear. Now... if you don’t need low gears and 1-ton durability then it’s probably not worth it. I just picked up another one on Craigslist at a great price.... it’s in good shape with a dana 20 attached. Never hurts to have a spare for the next Jeep project.

I loved the T-18 in my CJ7. Scouts used a T-19 for a couple of years with a syncromeshed first gear with a 6.32:1 ratio.
