What does the spark switch control? It looks like it grounds the switch when the trans is in 2nd. Is that correct?
I also have a another transmission question. I have a t90 from a truck with a 18 tooth 9 1/4" long input shaft. The driven gear(driven by input gear on cluster shaft) is 33 tooth. I counted the first gear on cluster and it's 19 tooth and on main shaft is 29 tooth. 33/18 = 1.83 and 29/19 = 1.52. Add them and it's 3.35. But I don't think that makes sense when I read the Novak guide. Maybe I counted wrong, but I don't think so.

I read about the spark control. It basically knocks the timing back in high gear to reduce oxides of nitrogen. I remember I had the same system on my old '71 Nova.

33~18=1.83333333
29~19=1.52631579 1.5263 x 1.8333 = 2.798 first gear ratio. Edited by oldtime - 08 Mar. 2021 at 1:05am |

So, duh, you have to multiply them, not add them. Got it! I'm such an idiot sometimes. I took a look at the axles and it's a 4.27 gear. If I did Jpet's 4.79 low gears, it would be and 57.26:1 in 1st-low range, and 11.95:1 in 2wd hi 1st. Might be pretty ok with the V6 and my 6.50x16 tires.

My 3B is totally stock as far as the gear train goes. I had a couple of people following me on a trail that complained I was driving too slow? It has 5:38 gears. My motorhome runs 5:714 ratio. No wonder it redlines at 60 MPH.

No biggy, I know I’m constantly scratching my head trying figure out everything that I have already figured out.
FWIW I don’t think Jeff has a 4.79 gear set. The only gears he is currently pushing are the JP 5.13’s. Yes it appears Jeff has sunk to the level of “gear pusher”. But yes I would recommend having a gear somewhere near a 60/1 ratio. No reason to go slower unless you wanna do lots of crawling.

My old Jeep does everything I set it to as did my old MB. (Fireball 198 V6 and the 3B has a 225) The motorhome is a all wheel drive diesel with somewhere around a 2 to1 low range ratio. It pulls small trees out easily.

Thanks for info and perspectives and your patience. I like "trying figure out everything that I have already figured out". I do that a lot these days. I did find a nice website that explains multiple gear multiplication well. https://woodgears.ca/gear/ratio.html

Ok, it appears that I have found a wealth of knowledge to help solve my problem. I am running a Dauntless 225 with a T-14 and a D-18 with Tera low gears and a Warn Overdrive. I destroyed the overdrive, probably due to lack of oil, and am now trying to put it back together. Any help in where I can acquire the correct bowl gear to work with the T-14 10 spline mainshaft and the Tera low transfer.

I've heard that Herm the Overdrive guy still has some Tera Low stuff.

The Warn OD for use with T 14 will use the exact same bowl gear as any other Warn. It is the assembly running inside the bowl gear that is specific for your need. You must have the relatively rare 10 spline spider blank in lieu of the typical 6 spline spider blank.
If your spider blank is not damaged then you can rebuild the planetary gear assembly with either new or used parts. So it mainly comes to the condition of the planetary spider blank.

Also, the Tera Flex guy I talked to a couple of years ago said that they would be keep some parts in stock for a while. If I understand what youre trying to do correctly, is delete the overdrive and find an input shaft gear, shown in this illustration from Novak as #33. |

Went back and reread your post. You are trying to put the overdrive back together.
Herm may have the parts you need.

I might also add that the correct Warn bowl gear for your application is only relative to the specific gears in the transfer case and it has nothing to do with the atypical 10 spline transmission maindrive.
Yes, as Stan stated tera flex bowl gears are avialable. Edited by oldtime - 01 Feb. 2022 at 4:55pm |

Buick 198/215 to Borg Warner T90 bell housing, the mating surface replaces bearing carrier and it becomes one unit. Scored on eBay a few months back, I have 215 and 300 crank, contemplating building 266 stroker for my 61’ CJ5 or installing in my 71’ MGB GT

There's something I have never seen before. I wonder what it originally came from?
