Dean,

Don't know if you need it or not, but I have a used solex carb you can have for spare parts or whatever. I don't have any use for it.

Exit 61 off of I-5 southbound, then about five miles from this exit is where I am located.

Don't know what your plans for the GPW engine are, but if you can confirm the serial number, it might be worth posting it on the G503.com website just in case someone there owns the jeep it came from. The chance of that is pretty slim, but I do recall reading a thread some time ago in which someone actually did locate their original engine and was able to reunite it with the vehicle. If the engine for my GPW 240019 ever came up, I suspect that I'd be a very motivated buyer.

Sincerely,

John

I plan on keeping that engine in there. I like the fact that its military. Plus, if I ever decide to get an GPW, I could reuse that motor later.

That would be awesome if you did! I just picked up a new 8 volt battery this afternoon, and I scored a starter from another member already. That would just leave me with the voltage regulator and I'd be in business. Thumbs Up

Sounds like a plan! Caution on getting a GPW: the pursuit of script F parts is highly addictive!

Good luck with your current project and keep sharing updates.

Dean I have 5 generators for you to pick from. They all turn but I don't know if the work. You could take one to a shop and see if the need repair. If you want to take a nice drive you could come up on a weekend that works for both of us and pick one out and I would just give it to you.

And like any good addiction it comes at a pretty decent cost LOL

It's yours (the engine), so you do you... I'd go forward open to the idea of picking up another engine for the 2a if it presents itself, if for no other reason than to not run up miles on the gpw engine if you're keeping it for a gpw.  I swapped an M38 engine into my 2A because it was the only decent engine I had at the time.  It's lifeboated me about a year and a half or two, and is scheduled to get swapped out in a month just to mothball it for an M38 I don't have...yet Wink  (swapping out a perfectly good engine Confused...that's what this hobby will do to you LOL )

Oh, and that gpw engine will be (should still be) chain drive timing...there are some differences.  FYI

Welcome fellow ECJ5.com member. I see you have a new experience to share. It's a great place to start. Better than most flatties. Good luck.

A GPA engine?  That just made it worth a whole lot more than a GPW engine.  Offer it for sale to a GPA collector/restorer and make yourself some bux!  Big smile
There's a reason it's called Ol' Unreliable

On a side note, I got to meet Mike From Oregon who gifted me a couple of generators. I really enjoyed meeting him, touring his shop, and seeing his collection. Thanks Mike, you rock!
