So can someone tell this newbie whats the difference between the L134? and the F head motors. since i just realized that mine is not a L134 and it is in fact a F head motor

Your F head has the intake valves in the head, with rockers under that valve cover... The L has all the valves in the block, and the head is a fancy flat cover that only has the plugs in it... a "flathead"

The L-head is a "Go-Devil", the F-head is a "Hurricane". The F-head had a PR man working on it...

Other easy things to look for on an F Head....
Carb on the passenger side, not the drivers, and single manifold (exhaust) on the drivers side, not dual manifold.

Cowl and hood was raised 4-3/8" to accommodate the taller Hurricane engines
