I am in the process of changing my ‘48 to 12 volts. I thought that since I have to change the headlights anyway I might as well replace them with LEDs. What I have seen, the typical headlight does not look like anything that should be on a Willys but the only headlights I found that look like stock ones cost a fortune. Suggestions? Thanks

So go to H4 headlites Hella makes a very nice looking conversion set up. They are a little tight fit in my 2A buckets but they do fit. |

The vintage H4 hella or cibe headlights are nice.

Can't afford the LED craze for vintage jeep bulbs anytime soon. I like my very bright old school looking Sylvania Silverstar Halogen H6024 bulbs at $25 each. Edited by Ron D - 15 Sep. 2022 at 8:44pm |

I went with Holley Retro brights. Cons? Really expensive. Pros? Literally plug and play and they look great.

No need to spend a ton of money. I run these on my CJ5. They are basically Truck lite knock offs. They have good cut off and good output at half the power draw of regular halogens, not to mention less heat. The housings protrude just a bit compared to a regular sealed beam halogen, but not much.
I run similar square ones in my XJ. To me they retain a more standard look without going with the wild bug eye looking housings. |
