Thanks guys and I am glad to be part of your convoy! Great group to wheel with! As far as the climb goes, Initially I did not think we would make it, but once I realized how close we were to crawling up onto it I thought we had a chance. We did dump an extra quart of tranny fluid in that morning, so maybe that was it?

Great thread to go back and read! Lots of neat flatties of all types. In reference to to the video of Blueberry that Jeff posted, it was a very neat "crawl". I was filming from the driver's side as Molly filmed the passenger. Brian and Dylan tried two other spots that we have made before. In the middle and to the far left where you see the tree in the video. When he tried the spot he climbed, I like others didn't think it would "go".
A point of reference though, if you watch when he first pulls up to the rock on the passenger's side look at the difference in height. The tires are an honest 37 inches tall. There is over a foot of rock "above" the top of the tire (when viewed straight on). Add to this the Jeep is already at a very steep angle and you get a new sense of "how did that happen". The footage from the driver's side isn't quite as dramatic as Molly's but when the Jeep turns the driver's tire has to "hold" a line on a ridge of rock. some how it did. Maybe Brian will post the video of the other side someday. Didn't mean to hijack the thread but just had to "relive" the moment. As always hope to "see you in the dirt" Fuzz

Yes! I was astounded when I saw the Rockrash Garden climb. Great driving! And, love that "business side"! Four links forever!

There are some great looking rigs on this forum. I thought I would just bump this thread in hopes others would post some more pics. Hank

Thanks for bumping, I never saw this thread! Here's my 47 2A with axles from a 65 CJ5. It has the Hollbrook long leaf kit, an F-head, and Terra tires.

Very cool! I've often thought about getting a set of Terra tires. How do the work for you?

I just purchased this 50 cj3a. It’s lifted! I will start a build thread soon. I have the majority of parts less the suspension I’m planning on. Here are my plans:
1950 Willy’s cj3a Repair hat channels and other rust as needed Flush tanks - have a new one if needed. DANA 20 3.15:1 Low Range Gear Set (#420315), There is an interlock pin between the shifter rails. Removal of this interlock allows for the added function of 2wd/Low and front-wheel-drive High or Low to the 20 - if you have the "twin-stick" version (see below) of the 20. Install dana 20, sm 420 and mate to 4.3, fuse box etc.. Upgrade axles and brakes- I purchased Dana 44’s from 2013 rubicon. 4.10’s, e lockers and brakes. Front has been switched to passenger drop and tacked only. Would like to replace front e locker w automatic locker. WMS to WMS 65” - shorten to 58”? Wheels? Tires -35” - 37” ? Would like to keep as low a center of gravity as possible while having as much articulation as possible Suspension - rear = 4 link, front 3 link w panhard rod.? Winch Power steering Electric windshield wipers Rear seat for two kids, w harness - Corbeau 36" Baja Rear Bench Seat - Black Vinyl/Black Cloth? |
