My engine turns off once I pull the light knob to turn the lights on. Do I need to rewire? Is something shorting? Engine runs when lights aren’t on.

Lot's of questions: Who wired the jeep? Did it ever work correctly (engine runs with lights on)? Did it always do this, or just start doing it? If it just started, what was the last thing you did before it started doing it? Do you have a basic knowledge of automotive electrical systems? Did you inspect everything for evidence of a short circuit (burnt, frayed, melted, or loose wires and stuff)? Do you have a multi-meter to test electricity? Do you have a manual with the wiring diagram? Before I did anything like re-wiring or changing parts, I think I'd use the answers to the questions and take a logical approach to troubleshooting the problem. Good luck!
