Since there are quite a few members here who are encyclopedias of all things Jeep ( and not a member of IFSJA.org or FSJNetwork.com ) I will throw this question out there in thecj2apage.com world.

I'm looking for more info on my first year '74 Cherokee "S".

Anyone know or have any leads of how many were base models or "S" models?
How many had the 401?
How many were made in certain color combinations
How to read/decipher the trim tag or any tags on the Jeep. ( trans, transfer, etc..)

There is a first year registry ( and other years as well) over on IFSJA.org and there is less than 20 on it ( and not as much info as I'm looking for)

I know it is a long shot but thought I would ask anyway since I am not having any luck finding much.

looking for the info......not in books where it should be.
But...
The shorter J number is the AMC factory/dealer sales order number.
Nothing further will be obtained from that number as far as I know.
