I have a CJ2A that I want to paint like some sort of old "business vehicle". I've seen old pics of trucks and vans from the 40's and 50's that were service station vehicles, tow trucks, milk delivery vehicles, Gas station trucks, farm service, etc... Painted with names of their businesses on the doors. Does anyone have any pics of something like that with an old flatfender? Looking for open top examples only though. I don't want to do a cab or half cab so I understand it might be hard.

Maybe, I'll have to look there. Looking for ideas like this, but I'm planning on without the top.

I've decided that I'd like to do something "personal" or somehow related to me, but I also want it to have a somewhat "vintage" look on this 2A build. Like If I owned a business like let's say... Microsoft Computer Software, I wouldn't want to use that since it's just a tad out of date... I used to own a small metalworking shop called "Edge Metalworks". I did CNC plasma cutting (which is too modern) but I also dabbled in blacksmithing, and I did do lots of welding, so I could do a name with welding in it, since that would be period correct. I think "Edge Metalworks" just sounds a little too modern, but I could just do something like "Steve's Welding" or something. Although I'm not in love with that for some reason. I now own a small gun shop (still called Edge Metalworks) but am not sure if that would be really correct since back in the 40's, you could probably just buy guns at Sears or the local feed store. Not sure there were many dedicated gun shops back then, and even if there were, I don't really like "Steve's Guns" though, and it seems like "Edge Metalworks" doesn't sound vintage enough. I've been pretty big into off roading for the past 30 years and now have 20 acres of hilly trails in my backyard. For the last 20 years or so, I've been holding events out here twice a year and invite a bunch of trucks to come play in the woods. I now just do it once a year or so, but we still have a ton of fun bouncing off trees and flopping on our sides. I've been collecting flatfenders for a long time and because of that, my trails have been come to be known as "Flatfender Farms" (even though we don't do any farming at all) My father in law has a few old F100's and he has always called his place "Thunder Road Garage" so when it came time to paint one of his old trucks, he painted it like this: I really like this style (maybe not the racy flags though- he did some car racing back in the day) and I'd like to incorporate "Flatfender Farms" into it somehow, but am looking for ideas on what to name "my business". Here are some ideas, but I'm open to others. I'm thinking I might put this on the side of the Jeep below the door, maybe the front bumper and tailgate, and maybe even add an old timey 4 digit phone number like like my FIL did. The last 4 digits of my phone are 5337 (JEEP) so I'd definitely like to use those digits. Just: Flatfender Farms Flatfender Farms Jeeping Flatfender Farms 4X4 Flatfender Farms Off Road Park (might not be vintage enough for me, but I really wish it was) Flatfender Farms Off Road Area (might not be vintage enough for me, but I really wish it was) Flatfender Farms Towing (although I don't want to put a towing setup in the back) Flatfender Farms Welding Flatfender Farms Garage Flatfender Farms Gunshop Flatfender Farms Sporting Goods Flatfender Farms Delivery Service Any advice? I would open up your search and include all brands of vehicles. You might really like the art work found on a Ford Service truck or a Chevy suburban used to deliver flowers. The art work could easily be adapted to fit your Jeep. Or give you and idea on how to come up with your own art work

Not jeeps, but over 250 pages of mostly vintage logo'd commercial VWs. Must be something there that catches your eye. |
