lose front axle?

i was removing my front breaks this morning and i noticed that my axle (that comes out the hub) is super lose i can even move it in and out some. is this normal ?

Short answer is yes it's normal. The axle sort of floats in there, but there are limits depending on the style axle/joint you have.
