I'll be headed up to Colorado Labor day weekend to pick this up... my grandpa gave it to me. It's a little rough around the edges, but appears to all be original and intact except for the back by the tail lights? Seems that maybe someone built that out for some reason..?
Where are you guys sourcing parts for these trailers? I think for the time being I'd like to get the axle dressed up (bearings, seals, etc) and some new tires on it and just use it. Maybe someday I'll restore it to match my CJ but that's not priority right now. It still has the tags on it which is cool, but all the info other that "M416" is gone off it so not sure what year it is or anything like that. |

Any bearing supply house should be able to match your bearings and seals - take one side off and get the numbers off the bearings.
Mine were: Seal National #472018 Races LM501310 Bearings LM501349 Also cheapest I found was a Timken Set 45 (Has 1 bearing and 1 race as a kit) rather then purchasing separate. They made thousands of the these between VNam and the late 70s so even surplus parts are pretty available. |

I can't help you at all about the trailer but you will have something to remember him by. I have my grandfathers 1953 Buick and I get into it and I smell the cigarettes and the pipe he used to smoke. I'm not really a smoker but a few times I had to go to my house and grab a cigar to smoke in the car. Call me sentimental but we all seem to keep these old beasts running for some reason.

Welcome to the club.
Has it been modified for a tailgate? The rear looks a lot like the modifications done to mine. I think mine got transferred to the Forest Service and they modified it. I can see some of their paint color in places. They did a nice job of modifying it. Most think it is factory. PM me with your email and I will forward you the service manual if you don't already have it. Micah
