Why not fab up some folding round buggy type steps. I've seen them on various Jeeps and thought they were cool. They fold up on the outside so those Colorado rocks can't get to them-------LOL. Oilly

I'm not sure and correct me if I misspeak, but I don't think Rommel is even with MD Juan any more. Rommel follows my one toy jeeps Instagram account and I think he is doing something with electric vehicles now.

I began again on my 2A after other projects. I have the tub fitted to the frame, however I'm not satisfied with how the trans hump looks. The cover plate is crooked. Has anyone ever cut an original trans hump and welded it into a repro body?

Digging into the new tub again this past weekend. Trans cover is crooked and transfer case lever opening may need a touch of work.

The opening needs to be about 3/4 inch farther forward. I got that corrected and I didn't have any trouble with the transmission cover. Ol' Red's MDJ tub was a early 2015 model. Everything else fit OK except the windshield frame needed some work. |

I'm going to try and post pics and problems we're encountering with the MD Juan Tub. It appears the simply modified existing stock rather than build one from scratch which I ordered. I can see the tool box has been replaced before shipping to say "Jeep" on the front. The spare tire support bracket inside the wheel well is located wrong, and the top wheel well indention's were hammered to appear the proper length. These tubs are not the proper steel thickness and they dent very easily. If I had to do it again I would have rather spent the money on one of my original tubs. After a 2.5 slumber because of other projects the original could have been rebuilt and ready by now.

Everything in grey or red primer is an original part with the exception of the Trans cover plate whereas an original wouldn't fit. As you can see the passenger seat frame wouldn't fit even after moving the resting plate, the front mounting arms had to be bent 1/2 inch down to allow the seat to rest properly. I'll continue to post more pics.

As you can see, there are still plenty of problems with these MD Jaun tubs. Most of us have seen the pics on other threads regarding the issues. An original footman loop doesn't line up with the holes on the cargo deck behind the front seats. The Gas tank line and drain holes are still off using two original and one new tank. The new repro taillight mounting bolts are horizontal instead of vertical. The Wheel well top pocket was rather tight on the passenger side compared to driver.

This pics cracks me up because many folks believe original items were perfect from the factory. Look closely at the side panel gusset.

You just pointed out another defect as well, the hole for the fuel tank cable that goes through the gusset was missing on mine, I need to try and drill it someday but its a difficult spot.
Your original photo shows it clearly |

For more info regarding MD Juan vs Original match up; the rear floor pan braces are not 2", no reinforcement metal under seat foot mounts or wheel well top bow mounts. No holes drilled for rear seat spring clip brackets that were suppose to be standard improvement in 2013.

More from the Magical World of Juan! These guys went crazy with the grinders on this thing. Look at the side panels to Cowl, they ground so much off I'm going to have to use filler...Wonderful.
