Whomever has replaced Rommel obviously doesn't have an interest with this forum and I hope I'm wrong, however I doubt we see any substantial product improvements.

I had most of the same issues as you did Davidover, My original was too far gone to rework, I am happy with my tub, once fitted it looks good, If they revised just a few things on them it would be a great buy.

Just purchased a tub at the end of the year ... still many of the same issues! Fuel tank cutouts, not even close! Wonder how bad the pedal holes will be. Tooling marks on the floor pretty nasty, looks like they'd been in there with an excavator. Most of the spotwelds had high spots on side of the body so grind and fill. Typical stuff mentioned in this forum. Body dtd 2017, purchased from Quadratec. No top bow bag of goodies included and tub footman loop holes still messed up.

I didn't do much spot weld grind and fill on the MD Juan tub I bought at the end of 2015. My operating theory was that I doubt Willys spent much time on smoothing and filling body imperfections...it was to be used as an agricultural truck. Just my personal theory... The fuel tank connection hole problem on the tub apparently still exists...some things never change. |

My friend bought a GPW body spring of 2017 and it doesn't have side holes for the body handles but has holes for the back corner handles? The fuel tank hole on the bottom wasn't really lined up either. The worst part was the cowl, we put an aftermarket outer windshield "USA made" on the body and there is a big gap in the middle of the cowl to windshield.

On the grind and fill, I normaly would agree with the original body manufactured concept, but the spotwelds had actual metal spikes from the welder contact points ...no way after dropping that much coin on a new body I could let that slide ...not doing anything else on rest of the body except the floorboard work ...Willys would never have let that body leave the factory.

Hey mkoloc or Thorholt, any new info on your tubs? Mine is still in the garage with plenty of work to finish. I'm hoping to finish this winter over the holidays. I emailed Peter Debella about the new kits from India that he is bringing in to CONUS. I'm ready to eat the cost of the Jaun tub and buy a better product.

Finished and painted after lots of work. Would perhaps purchase again if only option for my project, but I now consider myself educated regards these tubs so I know how much ass-pain is involved in getting them usable.
Will be most interested in the products from India. If they are good, they'll find an excellent market here and in Europe... might be just the thing to get MDJ off their proverbial butts or put em out of their misery. They have had no real competition and have really never cared enough to get their product correct!

Rommel left MD Juan several years ago. His time at the helm was quite productive regarding 2A and 3A tub improvements.
Whom ever is in charge now has probably decided that making the tubs better is not worth the effort. Sad.

I've ordered an SGI complete 2A kit through Debella. I've done a ton of work to my Juan Tub and am not satisfied with many details. The hat channels are more narrow and off on the left side. The quality is very poor for the cost. I'm planning to sell the Juan tub along with a straight 47 frame with valid title in the future. For those that did get the script on the toolbox, actually turned out a poor trade off. Original passenger seat frame didn't fit so we had to heat and bend the arms as well.as the box lid being welded on crooked. Lesson learned
