Parts "missing in action"?

In scouring the parts lists, I've run across a couple of unusual items that I don't remember discussing before, and couldn't find in a search.  My curiosity is killing me!

Any of you '45 owners have either of these items on your rigs, or know anything about them?

First:  the oil fill tube support.

The typical fill tube support is the metal strap that wraps around the tube and is held under one of the oil filter mounting bolts. (part # A-5105)

The '45 parts list shows another bracket (A-7999) which seems to come in-between the tube strap and the filter mount.  This is a military part number, but none of the MB crowd is familiar with it.

The parts in red are ONLY shown in the '45 parts list, have been purged from later lists.  The rest are common to all 3 parts lists.
GROUP 10-16  - Engine, Oil Filler Tube and Level Indicator
qty. 1: A-7999    BRACKET, oil filler tube
qty. 1: 52132         BOLT, hex hd., 5/16-24 x 5/8", tube bracket to support bracket
qty. 1: 52954         NUT, hex, 5/16-24, tube bracket to support bracket bolt
qty. 1: 51933         WASHER, lock, 5/16", tube bracket to support bracket nut

qty. 1: A-5105    BRACKET, support, oil filler tube
qty. 1: A-6525    CAP and LEVEL INDICATOR, oil, assembly
qty. 1: A-7280    GASKET, oil filler tube cap
qty. 1: A-6915    TUBE, oil filler, assembly

Second:  a muffler heat shield? (this is NOT the M/C heat shield)

Again, only listed in the '45 parts list. The shield itself was purged from the '47 parts list, but the screws were still listed.  Both purged from the '49 parts list.

Attached by sheet metal screws, apparently to the hat channels.  Did this fit between muffler & tub, or under the muffler to prevent ground fires?
GROUP 13-01 - Muffler (Early, up to s/n 18638)
qty. 1: 663097    SHIELD, muffler, assembly
qty. 6: 52142         SCREW, binding head, tapping, N0. 10 x 5/8", shield to sills

Whaddya think!

hat channels on my '45 tub have no indication of #10 holes anywhere, and my channels are only rotted on the outermost edge....
