I could measure from the top of the block to the top of the rocker cover if you wanted to compare it to an L134, there's probably a good 6 inchs or more for the head and rocker cover....
I have been offered a few old Indian made Jeeps over the years, all 3B high hood types and a repower with the KE31 would make a great bush truck, but likely to be a noisey beast of a thing. The L134 is such a quite engine compared to these almost truck engines. |

Les, there is absolutely zero 'diesel DNA' in the Go-Devil. It was derived from Willys' passenger car engine of the 1930s. During that period diesels were almost exclusively commercial vehicle, marine and aero engines, aside from a handful of pre-WWII Mercedes (260D) applications. And all were OHV architectures.
Whenever I see the long, spindly con-rods in the L134 jeep engine, I'm amazed that they don't snap like toothpicks. Just the opposite, of course.

I know. It's just one of those things where you can see similarities that aren't intentionally there, like a parallel evolution of design.
