    Posted: 05 Apr. 2020 at 9:50pm
I'm replacing my motor mounts with a pair I purchased from Walcks. The old ones are 2" tall excluding the stud. These have been on the jeep since I've owned it,
30 years and are embossed with Willys. The new ones are only 1 1/2" tall and these have the reinforcing plate welded to the bottom of the mount. Do I have the wrong mounts? If I use these, it'll drop the front of the motor a half inch and the fan will be dangerously close to the bottom of the shroud. (I think)
Thanks guys...

All of my motor mounts are 1-1/2", and are all replacements.  The fan clears the lower shroud by approximately 1".

Thanks athawk. 1" clearance, really? When I install the new mounts, looks like I'll have 1/4" clearance. This is the aftermarket bolt-on shroud.

That is pretty tight.  These mounts will mash down a little over time.   Maybe shim the mounts up a bit?  Or, re-position the shroud?

Do you have a photo of the original 2" motor mount?

Here's the old mount vs the new.

I'd guess they are for something other than a 2A.

I'll be darn. That's it, thanks Bob. It's interesting that the new mounts drop the front of my motor so that the fan is only 1/4" from the bottom of the shroud.
The radiator was not raised to accommodate the taller mounts. I need to take a closer look...

Ok. I was wrong, the radiator was raised, probably to accommodate for the taller motor mounts. The radiator had 1/2" pads installed. I removed them, so does the radiator just bolt to the mounts (metal to metal) or should there be a thin rubber pad sandwiched between it and the mounts?

I can't say for certain if there were pads on originals installations, but I use them on mine.  1/8" thick.

This an old file photo of mine on documenting the Chaffe Guard and Brush Guard - Not the best angle but you can clearly see two pieces of the thin Factory installed material on my 48, I'm too far from home to actually measure but the material.
