    Posted: 29 Oct. 2009 at 11:48pm
 Hello,
I just got and old willys from a friend of mine, I started doing a little research on the web and I found your forum... WOW. Great info!
Long story short... he found it in a field about 7-8 yrs ago. The motor was removed and in pieces in a box in the barn. MY friend rebuilt the engine, cleaned it up, and threw some paint on it. He converted to 12v and put an electric fuel pump on it as well.

I'd like to restore it but I'd like to id it first.  It has no ID tags that I can find. Any opinions and id help from the forum would be greatly appreciated.

The head has 800376 cast on it, the block has 804380 w - 11 cast on it.

Thanks,
Jim

Look on the side of the tail gate for a # or see if the tags are on the firewall by the air filter. Read this http://www.thecj2apage.com/forums/tailgate-number_topic12639_post105053.html?KW=tail+gate+number#105053

Welcome to the forum.

Here is a page that Sean has with many potential points of identifying information for a 2A.
                              CJ2A identification

Look for an ACM number as indicated on Sean's idnetification page, above.  That is likely the best indicator of the year that you will find if there are no tags.  Also look on the right edge of the tailgate for a similar number.

My best guess from the photos is that it is a '47 or later because of the style of marker or parking lights that used to be on the grill.

The tub and other sheet metal looks to be in excellent condition.  What does the underside look like?

nice looking ford , I think you'll be able to handle that jeep.

red motors , let me know if I'm wrong but that indicates a factory rebuild for willys, or did at some time.
