You've done a fantastic job. The paint, little accessories, just everything. It's breathtaking

I got the core out and cleaned up a bit... I think there is radiator paint I can paint it with.. suggestions would be appreciated.
Trying to remove the motor. Before I damage anything... anybody have any ideas on the best way to remove the fan blade and motor? Just spread the collar and push it down and out of the side of the box? |

I didn't get to mess with it today. however, I just went to start it, very very weak crank... would not start. i just put in a brand new 6v battery. It doesnt even try to turn over. Amp meter shows 0. Yesterday we had to dump some fuel down the carb for it to start. once to ran, we could start it np with a quick tap on the starter button... no joy today.

Really nice project. Have you put any miles on it yet? Makes you wonder how many years it has been since it looked that good

Thanks
guys. It’s been a long but enjoyable project. I think I started ripping it down
in 2009…YIKES. Honestly, I really knew nothing about these vehicles until I started
the project. I caught the Willys bug hard and wanted to bring it back to good
running order. That being said.. it’s hard, with family and work stuff, finding
time to work on it… but I really enjoy seeing it slowly coming together. My best friend is an awesome mechanic and his
help and experience has been invaluable. My brother did the body /
paint work. My wife and kids have all worked on it… its known infamously in my
house as “garage time with dad”.
Plus I think it would have been really hard, for me at least, to do this restore without this forum… absolute awesome resource. Folks on here are great. Walck’s has also been great..putting up with my stupid questions. Me and the UPS guy are also great buds now as well. I’ve learned a lot researching and working on it. I love restoring old pieces of history. I restored a 52 Ford 8n with my best friend many years ago. I cherish that tractor and the time we spent putting her back together. As a matter of fact, she just bush-hogged my back hedgerow just yesterday. I think the best part is the time I’ve spent with family and friends in the garage… bs-ing and working on it. Lots of people have gotten their hands dirty working on it, so it’s neat for everyone to see her back running and knowing they helped bring her back. As far as miles on it.. no not yet.. I still need to work out some starting and electrical bugs… soon though. You know, I don’t think I’ll ever be really done with it… back seat, top bows, canvas top… etc… the list goes on..xmas is coming...lol Edited by BOWJA01 - 13 Oct. 2015 at 2:41pm |

Been awhile since I've been on here... started messing with the seats tonight. Walcks covers, seat pans and springs. Beachwood canvas screw set.

sorry, didnt see the prior post about paint.. here is what I used. not
cheap... need to use their hardener and a touch of fisheye... 3 to 1 mix...its single stage industrial stuff... my brother used it to paint bulldozers and other heavy machinery at his old job.

I sincerely appreciate your thread. I too have a 47 that was originally Luzon Red w/Universal Beige wheels. As I have the time and funds to fix on the old Jeep it is my intent to put her back to original as possible. Your excellent work is encouraging to me.
