Napa appears to have put another Parts Catalog online that is searchable by part number again!

Nice to see it back! But it's "dumber" than it used to be
Still cross-references some Willys part numbers, but not as many as it used to.

I noticed that as well
Would be nice if a (former/current) Napa employee could get copies of the old books and scan to PDF... |

We just bought a full gasket set (engine)-while the NAPA online site didn't recognize the Victor #'s, (that I sourced from this site) I did find the NAPA (Fel-Pro) #'s by searching make/model.
When we went in to get them, I gave the parts guy the NAPA #, but the box was from Victor, and had the Victor # on it!
Full set was $82.** including tax.

I had a similar situation with the shocks. The NAPA guy could not look it up by the Monroe number I gave him. Another member here helped me out with the NAPA number, and when I finally picked it up, it had that unfindable Monroe number stamped onto the part itself!

Parts counter guys get in trouble real FAST if it doesn't come right to them easy on their computer screen nowadays..... too bad - makes the experience of buying parts not as much fun as it used to be at times! |

I tried to use the part # for a head gasket from this list and the Napa store I went to said that he has no reference to it. He couldn't even find a listing for a head gasket for a Jeep in the 60s. I ordered it from Walks.

I also stopped at NAPA for a new set of points. The part no. given is incorrect, the points base will not fit into the distrib.
Walck's points fit perfectly. Edited by Ritt - 16 June 2010 at 5:38pm |

I think NAPA is a hit and miss, and as time goes on it becomes more of a "miss" because they're trying to purge old parts from their inventory (just a guess on my part) a year ago (or so) I went in and got a intake manifold gasket, they were able to look it up in the computer and I had the part a couple of hours later, not sure if that would be true today. My thinking is that they're using up parts in stock and then dropping them when they use them up.

Usually for smaller parts, such as bearings, and fittings, I ask for 55-65 cj5 parts. They tend to work because the design of the jeep (aside from the drivetrain body and electrical) hasn't been changed too much. Make sure they're the same though before you buy it though, bring the old one.

Don't forget Canada, or is that a different company of the same name? "Tsitpumps" Huh, wonder if he sells AC compressors for 2A's as well.

I have a question regarding NAPA parts numbers. Im working on a 48 and have had great cooperation from my NAPA parts guys. They have bored and turned the crank put in new valves and done an excellent job rebuliding the engine. I had to completely disassemble the front axle due to neglect. This 48 is not mine but a clients and it has been sitting in his machine shed for the last 25 years. He has decided to have me rebuild the drivetrain and brakes so he can once again use it on his farm. He just wants it to go and stop. The NAPA counter guys have been great at getting almost every part i have needed. The two things i need help with are the knuckle seals and a short side front axle shaft. They cant find a number for the knuckle seals, so if anyone could help me with that NAPA part # that would be great. The axle shaft is a Bendix. I'm not 100% sure it need replaced as I have no experience with them. What happened is that after i pulled the shaft and laid it on the floor out of the way, no problem. When i picked it back up to clean it it fell apart at the joint. with some difficulty i was able to reassemble it. I will stay together if your careful with it but does have some play when you twist the shafts in opposite directions. Question is.....does it need replaced and is there a NAPA part # for it? Or can a spicer shaft be used as a replacement? And is there a NAPA part # for that shaft?? Th is client has a NAPA account at the local store and is writing the job off as farm expense so would like to use as many NAPA parts as possable. Thanks in advance for any help you all can give me.
