I am building my front diff for our '48 now. Ours has the rzeppa shafts. There is a seal at the center section on each side right beside the carrier bearings (Napa #11771).That seal is in all of the front diffs. Mine has a seal at the outer end of the tube also (National #40140)to keep the knuckle oil out of the tube. However, if you have a Bendix axle (has 4 giant balls in it)then you should have a brass bushing at the outer end of the axle tube,no seal. The Bendix shaft requires bushing support on both sides of the joint.Omix ada and quite a few other sites I have recently visited still offer brand new Spicer style shaft assemblies that will replace what you have and are better(read serviceable). They also will allow more turning radius than the Bendix shaft,27.5 degrees versus Bendix's 24 degrees.

NAPA vs Auto Zone? I used to be a very loyal NAPA customer, then.... AutoZone popped up. They carry a lot of the parts for the CJ2A and better priced. At first I thought about quality. NAPA might have NOS parts on their shelves, but I am thinking most parts come from China anyway. Any input from anyone on quality? I have had no problems with my brake parts (Shoes, cylinders, wheel and master) purchased from AutoZone. A rear main seal has not leaked yet Knock on wood...

Hey Dez,
I have family in Pinedale. Anyway, In regards to the 'S' lines. I have found no dealer selling correct replacements. I see it has been a long time since you inquired but I would like to comment. I have bought three reproductions and have not found a proper replacement. A difficult part to reproduce correctly as I have original, undamaged, parts for comparison. There is actually a difference in the two fitting placements in order to clear the backing plate and to connect through the mount plate. Several have claimed good home made reproductions, I am sure that that is the best avenue. Howard

FWI, I am a big NAPA fan also, just last week I was in there and talked to my guy who always goes the extra mile for me. I told him of my 1946 willy's rebuilt project and asked him how could he help me. He stated that NAPA doesn't have a data base for vintage vehicles and now uses a database on the west coast in California that deals with all there old vintage part lists and they would be we're we needed to start. That they personally don't have a parts list on vintage vehicles.

Here is one to add. I just installed a new 6V motor for my Harrison heater. NAPA had one that's a perfect fit: Balkamp BK 6551021 It was about $35.
The old motor had shorted an armature coil, so wouldn't run about half the time. BTW for those interested the old motor (original?) was a Delco Appliance #47806. The number was very hard to read, but I think that is right. Regards to all, John |

I just printed up the NAPA parts list. I used to use NAPA all the time for my parts needs, but moved a long ways away from the closest one. I'm going back now and getting my parts again there. This was a great reference page, thanks.

I went to a Napa last month with the 'part number' in hand for the tranny gear oil. I told the fellow there was I wanted by name and he told me he doubted that they carried such a product. Looked up the number, went to the storeroom, and came out with the right stuff. Those part numbers are golden. He was more surprised than I was.

Sorry but I have to add some thorns to all of the flowers.
I have a credit card I use just for my parts, went into a NAPA store in the next town (Danbury, CT) to buy coolant and gaskets, NAPA tried to buy $10,000. worth of parts out of FL on my card number. Luckily, the credit card co. thought this was suspicious and called me. THANK YOU NAPA.

I called Napa about radiators hoses and according to the parts list the top is a 1030 (Napa #)
That turns up as a fuel line. The correct top radiator hose is 7240, about $11.00 for it and $11.00 for the bottom one, Napa 7096. Charles |

I didn't see a part number for the strap but if you are talking about the braided ground straps, NAPA should have them.
