7.00-16's, what air pressure are you running? I'm down to 16 but could still go lower to get them to ride off the centers. How low can I go?

I gotta admit I laughed at this cause it made me think, I havent checked my air pressure since the accident, so for like 2 years I dont know what they are running, but they hold air!

28 psi for road should be ok. Lot less for off road.

I run my 7.50-16's at 18psi on the road and 7-9 off road. Not that it matters but i also run mine tubeless. I believe you will wear the centers out by running much more pressure than 20 psi.

Being at 16 its still riding on the centers. Gotta go lower. Not going to be driving it much on the road.
Tread should ride flat on concrete. Totally defeats the purpose of tread if all you're going to do is ride on the high centers.

Weight of your Jeep plays a large roll in what pressure to run. My Jeep has a V6, 4 speed truck transmission and a roll cage. I also carry a decent amount of tools and extra parts. All that extra weight really adds up quick. Last time I weighed my Jeep it was just north of 3,000 lbs. Edited by AKoller - 24 June 2021 at 7:40am |

Well of course. I was thinking stock configuration of a cj2a with minimal added weight. Each vehicle is different, just curious to what the pressure swings were. |

The last set of new 7.00x16 I took off after ~8k miles run mostly on tar @ 20 psi

I was running a f134 CJ5 with 8 ply 7.50-16 at 25psi on the road. It wasn't full tread contact but enough to drive straight and not big down the engine. Jeep was 3200lbs and with 5.38 axles towing another 600lbs or so of trailer and getting 14-16mpg.
Offroad it needs no more than 10psi. Trailer tires are basically the same 25lbs when on road with a 300lb load on a 600lb trailer. |
