need an original short horn for my vec 46. Already have the firewall mount. Just need the horn and any idea how to get it to operate in 12 volt ?

Hank, i believe you can run a 6V horn in a 12V system, but it will draw 4 times the power it should, so there is a risk of it burning out, especially if you lean on the horn for more than a second or two. 

To run it safely in 6V you need to measure the resistance between the horn terminals, and install the same sized resistor in-line on the power feed wire to the horn. Then the load will be evenly split between the resistor and the horn, and 6V will be lost over the resistor and the remaining 6V over the horn. I've done it on mine and it works well. Just make sure to get a resistor that can handle the required current.
