Hello Everyone - I would like to start off saying, THANK YOU! The information posted on this site and the knowledge of its members who are willing to share with a greenhorn like me has already proven invaluable!! I learn alot here.

I live in Northwestern CT and I'm a Dad of three crazy kids:) I recently picked up my first Willys!! It took a long time to find something local and within my budget Cry. This is a family project with my Dad (Grandpa), brother and children... My Dad is a old Jeep Guy so they have been around our family forever.

From the best we can tell its a 49', the data tags are missing from the firewall and frame rail. It has a PTO with some type of Hydrolic Pump mounted to it below the floor? It also has a plow with Hy-Lo pump, L-Head engine and is pretty much stock.... Looking at some original paint under the hood, I believe it was Picket Grey.

I'm happy to be here, thanks again! I will without doubt have questions for you guys/gals!!

Here are some pics: My Dads is the 42'.

Northwest CT?

My parents lived in Torrington.
We used to wheel in Tolland, Mass and Granville.

I've got pictures of driving around on the bottom of Colebrook River reservoir when it was empty.

Welcome
I would say you have a nice looking jeep to start with, and I sure your boys
will have a great time helping you work on it.

it's great to meet you guys! Thanks for the replies! It would be so cool to get a CT chapter together! I'm looking forward to the long weekend to get some work done.... We have the Willys running with a old motorcycle tank and have almost completed replacing the brake systemBig smile The rear brake drums were a challenge (pain in the butt). who knows, we could be scooting around the neighborhood soon! I love how readily available parts are for these, it's such a pleasure!

welcome aboard Gordon!  I'm no expert, so others will have to chime in, but didn't Willys do away with the trailer plug cover (above the driver side taillight) before '49?

You got a nice looking jeep!  Keep us updated on the status of this one.

Welcome.  Very cool 2A!

Rick G is right.  From the limited photos, it appears to be earlier than a '49.  In fact, your tub probably has an ACM number.  With the absence of data tags, the ACM number can help determine the year it was made.

Statistically speaking, it's more likely to be a '47 or early '48.

Thanks Guys!!! I'm really very happy!! I was borderline obsessed with getting this thing going, I even dreamt about it..... I feel like we accomplished something, now I can rest my brain Smile

I believe the next step is to change all the fluids, tinker with the idle, exhaust system and shocks....

So much FUN!!!

Wow! up until that last picture, I hadn't noticed that Erika had the anti-decapitation post. Is it original to the jeep, or part of it's 82nd AB build?

Its a homemade A-D post.... I believe the originals from that period of time were also hand-made by the unit it was with at the time. As far as I know there was no standard unit available? It would be COOL to find an original.
