Seems like a nice forum, so I guess I'll jump in...

After looking for the right one, at the right time, for a few years; I guess I found it. I recently purchased a 1946 CJ-2A. As a teenager, I had a '49 3A and a '50 3A. Back then, all I wanted was to put a small block Chevy in 'em and hit the river bottoms. I'm older and wiser now; I think I'll keep this one reasonably original.  Smile

The title says it's a 1947. But, the serial number puts it in the mid-late 1946 range. 74505 is the serial number, body number and frame number. The motor number is J 76123.

If the story I was told is accurate, I'm the third owner. The original owner had it until 1994 or 1995. It is relatively un-molested and non-bubbafied. Someone put a glove box in it, and welded a couple of mounts for something on the drawbar. But, overall, it's in very good shape. It runs and drives. Needs some brake work and the generator doesn't charge. But, those are minor problems that will give me some quality time getting to know my new Willys:

Opus,

Welcome to thecj2apage from Illinois.

You've come to a great place with great people to share info and tall tales.

That is a fine looking 46 CJ2A you have there.

Could we possibly get a close up shot of that first generation license plate bracket.

I'll work on getting some better pictures. Those were taken with my phone. But, the license plate bracket is either homemade, or home-repaired. It has some amaturish welding on it.

I'm with nightowl on the welds, when I was restoring my tub, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't make my welds look as bad as the factory welds. LOL I don't think I've ever welded that badly.

I have a question on those bullet light's .
Are those stainless steel, chromed or painted ?
I'm about to install mine and would like to get that glare as you have .

They have a chrome bezel around them, and the back 'bullet' part is painted black. Unfortunately, the lens in one of them is cracked.

I will get some detailed pictures posted this afternoon. If anybody has any specific details they would like to see, let me know. So far, these are the details that have been requested:
  • license plate bracket
  • bullet lights

Is there something special about a license plate bracket like that one?  I think I have one on a parts jeep.
