So i brought home a 1958 jeep Willys last Sunday. It is a rust bucket with what look like pretty good mechanicals. It was supposed to have a new engine (4 CY overhead valve) new clutch, Breaks, Radiator and transmission. Got the thing running today pouring gas into the Carb. Gas tank is solid but the fitting leaks. not sure about the fuel pump.
Just starting on this project and have very limited jeep experience with old jeeps . Welcome any suggestions.

I was in the same boat when I started on Papa Doc!  The most I had ever done was preventative maintenance on a lawnmower, much less a more complicated vehicle!  The amount of knowledge here is astounding!

Suggestions?

RUN NOW WHILE YOU HAVE THE CHANCE!!

JAS (Jeep Acquisition Syndrome) is highly contagious and much like what we were told about "Pink Eye" in school, infection can occur simply by looking one in the eye.

There is no cure for JAS and 12 step programs seldom work.
If you can't get there in a Jeep you don't need to be there!

Richard,
Welcome to the forums.  It is an enjoyable hang-out for good Willys digesting.

If you don't have a vacuum / fuel pressure gauge, stop in at an AutoZone store and rent one.
Use it to check both the pressure side and the suction (vacuum) side of your fuel pump.
You may need to spray wd-40 in the ports to free the valves.   _ _ just a starting point.
    Enjoy your new puzzle.
