Hey Everyone,

I am in Abilene, TX and just acquired a 1946 CJ2A that is in pretty rough shape. I am excited to start a restore on here and just wanted to introduce her to the page! I have already learned a lot reading through these forums and I'm sure I will talk to yall soon! Take a look at some of these random mods to include an extra spare tire carrier and the brush guard.

Justin

Welcome aboard.  I'll offer one piece of advice - don't just jump into a restoration.  Repair what needs repairing, make it safe to drive, then enjoy it for a while. Then decide what your way forward is.  Craigslist and Ebay are littered with partially restored vehicles, offered by well intentioned owners who, for whatever reason, were unable to complete the massive task. Just my 2 cents worth Smile

Welcome to the page! Always good to see another Texan on board. Looks like you have your work cut out for you. You do have a lot of original to start with. I have to say those windshield rest blocks have a Texas look to them!!

That's a good looking Jeep!!     I like these guys advice about not jumping into a full on restoration . Wish I had done that...   Just get it running and safe to drive and enjoy it while you restore the rest .  We took ours completely apart.... And I mean completely . But it was fun .

My advice, don't assume everything on it is from a CJ2A .  As we ordered replacement parts and kits for ours we found that some things were not original, and not even from a CJ2A .  The axles for example.   Ordered everything I needed to rebuild the brakes, only to find none of it was right . Front axle is from a CJ5 .  Rear axle from a Willy's Truck....

For parts: we bought most of our stuff from kaiserwillys.com . Later on we found another website quadratec.com that had the parts alot cheaper. They were clearly not excellent quality as Kaiser was.  But it was ok stuff . My problem with quadratec was the time it took to get things, and their customer service is terrible.  Kaiser had packages to us within the week .  And returns were simple .  I've seen alot of guys on here use walcks.  They seem pretty good too although I never used them.  Kaiser also has a shop by diagram feature .  They have a blownup diagram of every thing on the Jeep, so if you don't know what something is it's easy to find .

Awesome everyone thanks for all of the advice, especially with the restore and places to order parts! I’ll upload progress as it happens, slowly but surely lol.

Welcome aboard BZ  from another fellow Texan!  Nice looking 2a.  Looks like it was originally Normandy Blue.  So was mine. 👍🏻  Get that thing running and stoppin’ so we can do some trails together.
