Thanks! The original gpw parts are yellow with od green and red primer underneath so I primed and painted the wheels with the same layers and colors the. Sanded them a little. Then wiped the yellow with thinner until it started to show the green in spots. I figured time and the trail will take over from there.

Hi Seth!  I don't know how I lost track of this thread - just finished reading the whole thing.  I really got a kick out of watching Saul drive it at the reunion - now I know how it got to that point!  Great job on the build and thanks for sharing!

Thank you sir… normally my specialty  is making simple things look really difficult! Haha! One of the reasons I like ndt is how supple and soft they are that really helps.

I strongly suspect those are just the lug nuts.

They are just shouldered lug nuts… no washers.

Just in case someone does have a desire for some....and yes, I know they aren't in the manual and yes, I know these are Model A parts but some in the past have asked for a source for these.

Yes, I am running the model A washers on my Willys wheels.
They work well for holes the are wallered out.

I Cut down an old shovel I had to the proper length according to google and a restorer friend...  finally got a strap kit. Got it all mounted up!

I know its not "correct" but nothing on this jeep is. haha!

I did watch a video on correct strap location/routing lol....

I finally tore apart the passenger side rear axle to fix the leak. I found the grease seal was cut...the key was installed wrong and it split the hub.  SMH....

The axle seal was a mess too... I have yet to remove a seal from the previous owner that wasn't mutilated. This seal was wrecked from the day it was installed haha!

I smoothed it out and reassembled it for a day or two so I could keep driving it while i stripped down my spare axle for a good hub.

After I got a suitable replacement.. I used Steve's swage cutter trick... 5/8" hole saw works perfectly. Thanks Indian Chief!

Popping them out... Dont worry theres an appropriately sized socket under the stud, the drum isnt taking the force.

New studs popped in.  I drove them in with a big brass drift. Using 3-5 sockets of the same height line them up with holes and send it home.

Fresh new timken bearings from walcks. I installed new inner seal grease seals also.

I got it all back together and took it on a test drive and blew out a wheel cylinder. Fixed that and now things seem to be good for the moment.. haha!

Now on to the fun stuff! Disk Brakes!

The front is getting some yummy new parts. love these big Jeep calipers. (77-79 cj5)

The rear is getting 82 cj7 (2 bolt style discs and calipers)

My good friend James hooked me up with a beautiful set of OEM brackets for the rear.

My front 6-bolt brackets are at the sandblaster.

This setup uses dana 30 spindles and hubs on the dana 25 so I had to drive out the spindle bearing for the larger dana 30 shaft and make a bushing that fits the larger spindle but has the ID of the smaller dana 25 axle.

(stock dana 25 bushing)

Parting off the new custom bushing.

Bearing removed.. new bushing ready to go .

New bushings installed in the dana 30 spindles.

Dana 30 hubs cleaned/chased and fresh races installed.

Once the rest of the parts get here ill do the swap in one afternoon. I'm still driving it so I don't want to be down over the weekend. New hoses, pads, Good used rotors and hub gaskets should be here soon. Im really looking forward to this upgrade! I didn't realize how great the brakes work in my blue jeep until I drove this one! haha!

Sometimes. Haha!!

Both sides of the front axle are done. Soon as the flex hoses are here I can bleed it, remove the residual valve and be done!

Before:

During:

Passenger side done.

Drivers side.

Thanks Barry! Yes after driving the blue jeep with 4-whee disc I am spoiled. Once I got a few miles on this jeep I knew I would be doing major brake upgrades asap. Disc is so much easier to work on and keep clean too.

The fronts are finally completely done! I installed the hoses, removed the residual valve and bled the system! man what a difference. she stops great now! and that's just with the front. On to the rear now.

I know you can just poke holes in them but I prefer to toss the whole thing in the bin. haha!

Most of the parts i need for the rear axle are here now. Ill post updates as i go. Thanks for watching!
