All kidding aside, that is a GREAT looking truck especially considering its survivor status.
(just wouldn't want to feed that 440.... or work on it either for that matter ![]() |

That 440 is clean in there, has it been rebuilt or still original? I have a 78 400 bb in my dodge truck, and it is still original "stock." You can run 87 octane in the late 70s stock dodge bb's because they had no compression. Nice van.

The carpeting was redone about four years ago and the previous owner promised me that there was no DNA in it....
![]() The engine has been rebuilt and pepped up a little...

Is that a b&m weighted flex plate?

It is B&M, but not weighted. Just a solid SFI plate. Everything on the trans end needed to be neutral balance. The block is the original 360, but with a forged rotating assy. It is now a 408 with a roller cam, performer heads and Holley EFI.

Wow that's going to be a decent support vehicle. I put a 400 in my willys tow vehicle (w250). What did you do with the 440?

That's a different van....it's REALLY shagadelic around Doug's place.
That 360 will be a boss! Doug's gonna get to know ALL his gas stations in the area! ![]() Cool stuff !! |

Yes, the 408 went in to the green van at the beginning of this thread. It had a 360 2 bbl when I got it. I could never make the thing run right. I went through several carbs (Holley 2 bbls), even broke down and took it to a carb "guru", still just never ran right. Then one day it was sitting there running and started making a terrible noise. Something fell through the engine and poked a hole in the #1 piston. Then the rebuild got out of control to where it is now ; 490 horse, 520 lbs.

I Dig It. Amazing they both survived in such great condition. We used to carpool to school with a family who's dad was a Chrysler engineer with a corporate lease. They had 5 kids, so they always got a van. Their dad asked us for input on the colors one year. I said black with a red interior, very groovy. He said the only way to get that color combo was in a Street Van. Their mom would have NO part of that. He liked the idea though ordered an Aspen in those colors. So instead of a black van, he ordered green. The dealership screwed up the order. When they went to pick it up, it was candy apple green with an aqua blue interior. It was hideous. He was in a pinch so he had to accept it. I think the street van would have been less embarrassing to chauffeur grade school kids around in. Bill
