I drove my cj 2a into the garage in the evening. Next morning no spark. Battery shows 6,2 Volts and starter turns the engine swiftly. Took out spark plugs H11 they look normal i.e quite black and dry but as said no spark when tested against the block. Ignition on with the key and head lamps are on. What should I be looking at next to find what's wrong?

1. check all physical Spark plug and coil connections 2. check all supply wire connections (ign switch to coil and coil to distributor 3. Check ground wire from Battery to engine block 4. Check for spark from coil (pull coil wire at center of distributor hold close (1/16-1/8" from, the engine block. 5. check individual plug wires in the same way. some where along this path you will find something not working.

ok will check. I have the front mounted distributor (1949). What could damage the coil or condesator over night?

The reliability of modern condensers is poor to hopeless! Removing your sweater to fast may take one out not saying that's the issue but it happens.

Curious what front mounted distributor? No Jeep 4 cylinder I know of has the distributor anywhere but on the right side of the block. What engine do you have in your jeep?

Well, that is a new one on me! An 8N engine in a 2A. The ignition works the same way in these old points type distributors, so all that has been posted is still valid. Now if you have a magneto on the front of your 8N, that is just a wee bit different. I would still suspect the condenser myself. Be aware that they can be bad straight out of the box. IHTH, Capt. Logger.

Perhaps he has a Ford GP , but that would be a 9N engine! ...... Good luck troubleshooting either way!...

Hello, sorry it's me messing up. The vehicle in question is a ford 8n tractor with front mounted distr. What I found was a broken steel blade spring in the braker point assy. This was my first time and a new experience for me. Could as well have been my cj2a with a broken breaker point spring.
