So after fighting it for a couple years now I have upgraded my phone. I am now the proud buyer of a Samsung Note 9. I figure about 6 months from now I should have most of it figured out. And another 6 months to flush all the useless crap it appears to be packed with deleted.

Hey that will be just about the time its paid for and I start having trouble with it LOL

Congratulations on the new phone.
I don't even know what version my phone is LOL It says LG on it and it is supposedly a "smart phone"
The battery loses it charge annoyingly fast. I don't want to upgrade it because like you said it will be loaded with useless crap I don't need or want.
I know it will have to be upgrade soon though and I'm not looking forward to it.

This is what grandchildren are good at. My two 9 YO grandchildren have helped me with some computer programs that had me baffled.

I have a Flip Phone. I will only get a "Smart Phone" when my employer buys me one, or when this old phone actually dies for good.

You can have them. I'm happy with my old flip phone. I get grief because I don't have a "smart phone". The audio quality and reception quality is is poor on them.

Been pondering this myself (I have the Note 3 so very old). Verizon had a very good Black Friday event going on so I opted for the S9plus over the Note 9, same phone without the pen and about $200 less. Mines on back order so wont ship till Dec 11 Dead

Hate having to learn a new phone all over again... LOL

Old is not that bad. My best cell phone is around 30 yrs old but it is analog. I was an accident scene in UT and my old phone was the only one that could call for ambulances. It does put out 3x to 5x more power than a hand held.

I'm probably one of the last people on earth still using a Blackberry. But it works well, and fits my needs. Its smaller than a pack of cigarettes, so it fits easily in my shirt pocket.

Just got my first smart phone a couple weeks ago, I hung on to the good old flip phone as long as I could.... I do like the pictures it takes... I find myself taking more pics than I ever have.

I've got an old Pantech keyboard phone (that everybody thinks is a Blackberry when I pull it out) and I like mine for those reasons plus the fact that if it falls out of my pocket while on a ladder it's not a catastrophy.

Although I don't live on my phone (or have it in my hand constantly) I feel a certain amount of panic whenever I have a little glitch with it because I see no reason to ”upgrade" something that works for something more fragile and costly......the exception being the better quality cameras that come on the smartphone.

That said, I don't want the camera option bad enough to give up my 'Dumbfone 5'. I scan eBay periodically for good deals on them.....last one (the one I'm using now) cost $19.95 delivered still in the factory box.

I'll keep going that way till ATT tells me it won't work anymore.

I am glad to hear that I am not the only one that still uses a flip phone. Now I don't feel so lonely lol.

Alot of guys I know that work outside use what looks like a flip phone but is actually just there for a cover I think. Some special 'rough service' phone or something.

Art could probably tell more, I think they are what some of the guys and gals in service are using.

We use flip phones at work ( Maintenance at a community college) and they are just fine as it is used as a phone only ( My hearing impaired boss will text it but I just reply to him on my personal phone, since it is way faster)

I rarely use my phone for phone calls. It is more a camera and GPS unit for me.

A cell phone is just an electronic leash.
