I know I'm not listing part #'s as these have been previously listed, but I feel this is a good place to pin down where the different decals went and what types went on each style canister. I know this has been discussed on the regular forum, maybe I'll do a search with links. Anyway here is what I found originally on a Fram "military standard" The tags were unreadable but the locations are there.

There were 2 different decal sets used on MB/GPW on the "Military
Standard" FRAM filter. I don't for sure know which carried on to CJ2A.
There are a few possibilities for the military difference:
On the left is an NOS GPW crate engine. On the right is an NOS MB crate engine (left photo enlarges):
NEITHER of these lid decals is available in repro. I have worked a bit on one of them, but not done yet. Kinda came to a halt when I discovered the other type:
The bottom decal (fits between the filter bands) is the same on both. It is (or was) available repro: Sean |

great pictures, thx...now, for the corkscrew.....what about the "Military Standard" Purolator? this one came on the '45, and the word "purolator" on the lid looks like "purOlator", and i have another unfinshed one just like this, except the word Purolator is in all capital letters....low

Not sure about the dates but the purOlator was part of their advertising. It tried to relate to their slogan which was "Pure oil later"

Unfortunately I have lost some photos I had before repainting this Purolator that is on 23353. The repro decals say the same thing on the lid but are not the same size. The solvent is excellant for making the decals 'lay' down. Same stuff we used as kids on pur models! These are the set I have used...not quite right for this filter. Even as a GPW they are not exact. I really need to work on this picture thing....sorry

Low, can't answer that question but a thing grabbed me in Fred Coldwell's book "Preproduction Civlilian Jeeps" Page 146. was the rectangular top decal that is not "rounded out like the one's Sean has done alot of research on..Is this a PurOlator thing.? Is this just Willys using an old pic again? I wish I could scan this but I'm down,( let's just say I'm computor idiot and the Cat ain't here). anyone?
One more thing, what about the little tags that say..Input and output..(I'm, assumming that's what they say at the inlet and outlet...(maybe ..Inlet, outlet....?)

Gary, maybe on the inlet side, but on mine, the word outlet is stamped into the bottom, just like the wording on the lid.... and looking on pg.146, i am inclined to say that this picture reflects a purolator housing, not a fram one..it is that very pic that has set me to find decals for a purolator..
go to the '45 parts manual, pg. 16, the filter on the engie reflects the same style decal....and BOTH of the previously mentioned pictures appear in a GPW/MB TM 9-803 service book, with the same inability to see it clearly...

Mike, Gary, These decal sets are available from Ron Fitzpatrick Jeep Parts. Probably elsewhere by now as well. Get two sets and the solvent from a hobby shop for application. As I recall Ron includes two sets anyway in his set he sells...I had to do it twice to get it good. Like I said, not a perfect match to the originals I have seen on the GPW or on the lid of 23353's but pretty close. It would be great to see some better original samples from a CJ of the Purolator Filter. There are pictures of the original GPW Purolator application...but I have not seen any of the CJ.

The decals on traderĀ“s PUROLATOR filter is exact as on my MB engine from an 1943 ONAN Brothers power plant, also in white letters on the lid PD-5104
