I picked up one similar to it at a Reunion one year....think I gave $2 for it. It was made of 2x4 pine.

I gave it to a woodworking friend and said something like "here's you a pattern if you want to start making these".

Really didn't think any more about it....next years Reunion rolled around and he presented this walnut and cherry 'Deluxe' model to me .

That was his prototype....there were a few details he didn't like so I got another one the next Christmas in high gloss finish and prettier wood....it's my favorite in my collection.

The hood opens, but there's nothing in there. There's a hole in the middle of the floor of the engine compartment that looks like it could have been used to anchor a battery holder, and the grille has holes behind the headlight rings that could have been for lights. None of it looks like that stuff was there and had been removed.   BW
It is NOT a Jeep Willys! It is a Willys jeep.

Otto...how big are the tires? That one has a real Cub Scout Pinewood Derby look to it to me, but the Jeep is so well lettered it looks 'factory' done.

Yes it does have a pinewood derby style to it, although it’s likely twice the scale. It’s made of a solid block of wood 9” long x 3.5” wide with 2” wooden wheels.

Oh OK the scale IS all off then....looked like the wheels might have been plastic Derby wheels. But they are alot smaller than that.....(I just came across my old one the other day, I guess that's why it was on my mind).
