First impression?  WOW!  That's dry!  There isn't a blade of grass anywhere in those photos.  I'm guessing that all the tops are up to provide shade for the occupants, not because you're expecting rain.  I hope you have more photos to share with us.  Thanks.

It was hot and this area is extremely arid. We expected some drops of  rain during October, but nothing. Yoc can see the Dead-sea at -400m and the Jordan mountains in the east.

It looks like there were about 24 or 25 Jeeps in your group.  It's amazing to me that you could be next to the Dead Sea and yet be so arid.

The Dead Sea is so saturated with salt that the jeeps would probably float in it. It feels like oil on your skin.

The Judaean Desert is a "local desert" which means it is not a part of the global desert belt. Here is a good explanation for its origins and formation of this Rain shadow desert https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rain_shadow
It is very close to Jerusalem (+800m above sea level) and you can find a lot of signs for early Christian life in its north area, some of them are unique.

I'm very familiar with "rain shadow" effect.  Thirsty Dirt Ranch is in a rain shadow.  I have 14,000 foot mountains (4300 meters) just 6 miles (10 kilometers) west of my home.  The mountains will get 300 inches (7 meters) of snow on top, and another 60-80 inches (2 meters) of rain, but where we live in the valley, we only get about 10 inches (25 cm) of moisture all year, either rain or snow.

I would guess that pretty much all of the signs of early Christian life in that whole region are very unique.

Thanks for sharing, Ziv.  Would love to jeep with you there sometime.  Yes, post more pics please.  We love to see jeeps and jeeping from other parts of the world.
