The Communistwealth of Massachusetts got their piece of me. I am now free to roam about the largely unimproved, crumbling roads of western Massachusetts.
It took two trips to the RMV, a trip to a town hall half a state away and a partridge in a pear tree. Then I dug up my old bar bag from my motorcycle days. I would guess i got this around 1990, maybe 91. Still has the pins I collected over the years. It now is my "glovebox" |

Dang no fender, that's a great idea. It reminded me that I have one too. It's from my days riding old Indian motorcycles. Thanks for the idea!

Freakin' awesome, A... long road 'n all. LOVE the leather, and the continuity-
You won't know it, but one simple thing you did for me completely changed how I view the hobby... anything that helped keep you motivated was just you comin back to yourself. It's infective. I've tried to pass the rest on- As you say... On to driving! MB

👍, Thanks to you too, I have to say it it was probably your original Willys, now the crawler, that I first saw when we were wheeling with NE4WI, that planted the bug in ME for wanting a Willys. Hell, has to be 20 + years ago, damn we are old. Those were some fun runs, I know I still have a picture of your original Willys on the top of a mountain, I’m thinking the Beacon, with the sun behind it. That picture was the goal for me, everything about it screamed PERFECT.

Thanks for the comments guys. Much appreciated!!
Today was the beginning of "test and tune" I put maybe 15 miles on the Jeep today. It started out rough. It was not running well. Low power. Then I see it's overheating. First step was to chase ignition. I started today with a new set of plugs. I swapped the old ones back in. Seemed to run a bit better. Then I swapped in the electronic dizzy that I have. The way the dizzy is designed, I could not get the base the base timing dialed in. Only way to do it would be to remove the oil pump and re-clock the gear. I wasn't about to do that. So I refurbished the points distributor I had. I was making progress as it seemed to run better yet - until I test drove it. Again - low power and could barely get over 35. It was also running uncomfortably hot. So I swung it back into the shop. I found the coolant a little low. But not low enough to cause a problem. I adjusted the clutch some. Beyond that, I was stumped. As I sat pondering, I noticed a smell......hot brakes. Sure enough the rotors were HOT! Ah HA!! Yes the brakes were dragging. I had to remove the push rod and shorten it a bit more in order to get the proper free play. Fixed. Last test drive - well - it was just plain old fun. I'm already getting handy at splitting the gears. She cruised (flat ground) comfortably at 50mph in overdrive. Temps were good. It was going down the road nice and straight. Still more tweaking to do. But we are already getting close. I need to adjust valves. She's a bit noisy. I'll likely do that next.
