some shots of the PS pump mount. Hope it helps.
Simple box tube mated to a SBC low mount short water pump mount. It was fairly easy to cobble up.

Rear disc brakes are done. Well one side is anyway. I found twisted splines on the passenger side. I had a spare rear axle that I pulled a shaft out of. But, I managed to mangle the threads while removing it. I've never had one stuck on like that. I believe it never had been apart. But anyway, a couple members here are checking their parts stashes and have offered some help. Much obliged!!!

Thanks to some kindness from a member here, I officially have a rolling chassis. Thank you Bruce for the axle shafts!
I can't say why, but i was hell bent on using a stock front bumper that I have. It was bent beat up a little, but had the perfect "patina" i was looking for. It didn't seem right to use a re-pop bumper. I found that the holes didn't quite line up like I wanted. So instead of just hogging out the holes, i sectioned the bumper. I took 1/8 out of the middle, bolted the halves to the chassis, jigged it with some angle iron and burned it back together. Pretty happy with it! I have to build a small guard for the steering box, as I had to notch the bumper for clearance. the design I have in mind will give the bumper back it's strength in that area. Time to repossess the Warn 8000 from my son's YJ......

Progress has slowed a bit. Daughter got married. Work is nuts. Throw in a vacation in there and I haven't had much time this past month.
But i did manage to plumb the brakes. I also spent some time researching and measuring shocks. I found what I needed in rear shocks for a Trooper and rear shocks from a Grand Cherokee fit the bill perfectly. The trooper spec shocks are on the front and the GC shocks fit the bill in the rear. So glad to have this thing be a proper rolling chassis now! |

Battery tray is in. I used a tray from Rusty's. Worked out well. Started to mock up some sheetmetal. Tub is stripped and ready for dissection....

body braced in preparation for floor removal.
Also mounted the Warn winch up front. Overall a very productive garage day! |

[QUOTE=nofender] Making progress.... Exhaust is done. I had to reroute it however. I have a brace/plate supporting the receiver hitch out back that claims the same space the muffler wanted. So the solution was to reconfigure the exhaust. The Radiator and grill mounts were missing on this frame. These were recreated. I had to move the driver side radiator stud to clean the steering shaft. Radiator surround needed some modding too. I hand formed a little patch and welded it in. The rad is now at the shop getting renewed. Overall, pretty happy with the progress so far.
I need to reroute my exhaust as well and wondered if you used std. off the shelf pipes or did you have them made? PGR Edited by 3-48s - 27 Nov. 2016 at 1:32am |

Standard off the shelf pipes and muffler. There was more than enough pipe and bends from a stock configuration to make it happen. I could look. but if remember right, i only had to weld in two places to make it all point the way i wanted.

Are you going to keep the std. location for the gas tank?
Any concerns with clearance or heat from muffler? |

I would push the muffler to the rear and would lean more towards replicating this NEWGREN brochure in order to play it safe & be behind the gas tank w/ the muffler heat.
I was just curious if there was enough tube in the std. exhaust system & it appears there is. Edited by 3-48s - 27 Nov. 2016 at 4:37pm |

If i'm being honest, I'm not sure yet. Ideally I would like to keep the stock tank location. But i am considering more of a safety cell type of tank. With what I intend to do with this Jeep it may be better to use a tank that won't spill so easily. In any case, my measurements say i should have enough of a air gap around the lines and floor where heat shouldn't be an issue. Worse case scenario would be that I find a smaller diameter muffler.

tub surgery begins.
I peeled back some Bubba fab floor patches. I was pleasantly surprised to find the original floor on the driver side. I also found this tub has only been done over once. I could only see one layer of paint covering the original green. Let's hope it's a lucky green. In the meantime, some pics for your amusement... |

Dissected and repairs have begun. I was questioning my sanity on my attempts to save this tub. But, it's really not too bad! For the purposes of this build, I think I can make a solid tub that I won't be afraid to use as intended. Few pics for you:
