I took the plunge today and ordered a 24' enclosed trailer for jeep hauler/camper duty. The length is more than needed for the little jeep but will give me plenty of space for my needs when doing camper duty. A few options I got included, axle upgrade, extra height, RV door, a couple windows, lights etc.

I'll put a do-it-myself kitchen area in the nose. Should be a fun project and when finished, off we go to new trails with Ol' Chigger.

You are gonna love it. For years I hauled the jeep into camp on a decent little flatbed and slept in a tent. I got a enclosed 16 footer a couple years back and the experience has changed for the better..

I'm in the market for one of these. Post some pictures and a review when you get her.

Because of the unique combination of options, it's not an in-stock unit anywhere. They said 8 to 12 weeks to build, so if they're on schedule I should be going to get it somewhere between end of April to end of May.

When I get it home then I'll start my build out of the kitchen facilities, water, electric, heat & cooling systems. I have to make it pretty comfy; I'm way past the days when I could sleep on the ground and wake up with dew on my face.

I used to hit the Adventures site. Some pretty sweet trailers set up. Room for a vehicle, kitchen and all else. Folding bunk beds. Spare fuel and more.

Thanks, I'll definetly check that out.

I have everything pretty well planned out, the main gamble I'm taking is on my AC. I'm going to do a mini-split, I just hope it holds to up to vibration and bumps when I'm towing. I couldn't find much on that topic in my research. Some say they can't handle it, others say they can, but I haven't found a definitive, long term evaluation on the topic.

Lots of posts on people using them, but most are owners of tiny houses that don't tow much, or they are "snow bird" type rv folks that spend a lot of time in one location.

My sierra 1500 Z71. It has plenty of capacity for the weight but I suspect the extra height is going to make for extra wind resistance.

When finished and fully loaded, if it can't hack it I'll upgrade to a 2500. I have my eye on a nice lightly used, well cared for, three year old Duramax.

I have a 20' enclosed car hauler that I want to convert too.  Empty, it weighs about 3200 lb.  It grosses out at about 7400 for my F150 to tow.   I think the toughest thing for a half-ton tow-wise is fresh water.  It eats into the useful trailer weight pretty fast.

My F150 is a 2013 XLT 3.5 eco boost.   I love that motor.  Max torque at about 2700 rpm.

My trailer is 16’ all aluminum, my 1500 dodge pulled it fine, but I upgraded to a 2500 Ram, no looking back, hardly know the trailer is behind it! 😁

Yes, totally agree; with fresh water tanks empty that frees up a lot of towing capacity.

The other issue I've noticed over the years, when towing with a half ton pu, is wind. Head on and from the side, you feel it on the trailer.

I had a 2016 F150 Lariat and hated it, nothing ever worked properly, the front axle was rebuilt twice before 30k, the transfer case growled, the doors rattled, amongst a plethora of other significant problems.  I traded it out at 50k, they gave me $30k for it and its replacement is a 2020 F250 Xlt with the 6.7 diesel a 3.5” lift and 37x12 tires. Still gets an average of 17 mpg, I love this truck and it never says no to towing no matter what the weight.
