my cj2 kept running hot, I installed an electric fan ahead of the Radiator to push air in and maintained the engine fan. The vehicle maintains 140 degrees on flat roads and hits 150 degrees going up hills. It seems to work on my 48 with original engine.

140-150 seems a little on the cold side... how "hot" was it running that you felt the need to cure it?

Donald,

I'm glad you found a solution to your heating problem. especially if you are happy with it.

I could never dump the mechanical fan. The sound of it is part of my jeeps personality.

I agree.  Engine performance and efficiency does improve at temperatures higher than 140-50°.  I can't remember the optimal range, but 170-180° is closer to where you want to be with the L-134 engine.

The original system, with all components in good shape, should have no problem keeping the L134 cool. The electric fan may have relieved the symptom, but it’s only a band-aid, the problem still exists. BW
